2016 IIDC Hong Kong International Invention and Design Competition Report

2016IIDC invention competition organized by CIIS and in collaboration with Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), it was hold in 1-3Dec in Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, global invention zone. This event gathered more than 200 inventors and 100 inventions from Canada, Chad, Chinese mainland, Croatia, Hong Kong, Iraq, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Slovenia, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates. Competition is under the categories of “innovative technology”, “medical and healthcare”, “smart home and building” and “eco and better living”.

With the support of HKTDC, the IIDC competition and exhibition got a fruitful outcome and came to a successful conclusion. Like many other international invention exhibitions, the Hong Kong Exhibition was exhibition-competition based; however, its greatest distinction is that with HKTDC as intermediary, the events were generally based on the trade of intellectual property rights and partnership with buyers. In the 3-day exhibition, buyers were able to immediately enquire about commercially viable inventions and place direct orders, and this active on-site trade channel that allowed inventors to successfully receive orders was a key feature in the exhibition.

IIDC also support by International Federation of Inventors Associations (IFIA) , with the assistance of IFIA and its President( Mr.Alireza Rastegar) in drawing talented inventors from all over the world and providing two IFIA Best Invention awards is much appreciated. One of the award was presented to Invention "Certified Organic Neem Shampoo: Hair Therapy for Scalp and Hair Problem" from Thailand. This invention already USDA certified and being sold in the US and Germany, it attracted much attention at the exhibition and has received orders from Hong Kong and Taiwan. The other award was presented to Invention "A Portable I-Orchid for Noninvasive, Biochemical Consumable-Free, and Fast Examination of Orchid Diseases" from Taiwan, this invention is a viral test for orchids. In Taiwan, orchids industry is a high economic value crop and a significant export product. However viral infection in orchids is a major concern for floriculturists, yet traditional methods of viral testing involve damage to the flowers. The new viral test does not damage the flowers and does not require any consumable material. It is a precise and economical technique that is already in use for detecting virus in orchids.

  

The inventions in IIDC exhibition included patents from all over the world. Half of these inventions came from technology industries, university incubation centers and academic research. Youth inventor continued to be a highlight of this event. Twenty inventions were from elementary, middle and senior high schools, their age from 5 to 18, they displayed many their brilliant ideas, creativity and English fluency of these young inventors when describing their inventions to international buyers are particularly noteworthy. At the exhibition, many of them even received orders from Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia marking them as young but brilliant successes.

2016 International Innovation & Invention Competition Report

International Innovation and Invention Competition (IIIC) event established in 2010, it organized by CIIS in Taiwan. With the support of Salon«ARCHIMEDES», and international organization IFIA. This event is now in its 7th year. This year, there are 456 inventions from 14 countries, which are Taiwan, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Mainland China, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Japan, Russia, Croatia, Serbia, The Republic of Kazakhstan, India, Morocco, Korea. There are 70% inventions are the research and development outcomes of technological universities, and 30% inventions are from youth inventors, they are elementary, middle and high school students. To encourage youth inventors is a very important mission for CIIS. In this event, total of 111 gold, 82 silver and 22 bronze medals were awarded, and a grand award ceremony was held at the Taipei Ambassador Hotel on December 15^th.
